When I was in elementary school, my mother and I used to go out to eat every Sunday night, and the meals were always the same: my mother would get a chicken Parmesan dinner, and I would get a chicken sandwich. I loved my chicken sandwich, and it wasn’t until years later that I learned that there was some secret recipe that made it taste so good.

Hawaiian chicken is a delicious chicken dish that takes just 45 minutes to prepare. This dish, like pineapple chicken, is sweet, tangy, and tropically flavorful, as it combines golden brown chicken with pineapple. To make an outstanding meal with a creamy, thick sauce, just mix the ingredients in a skillet with the chicken stock and tomato ketchup. To transport you to Hawaii, serve Hawaiian chicken with a light side like a bowl of rice or a salad.
Hawaiian Chicken Recipes
This Hawaiian chicken dish is a lot simpler to make than you may imagine. Begin by chopping the cleaned chicken into medium-sized pieces and searing them in the pan. Set the chicken pieces aside after golden brown and add the green bell pepper and pineapple to the pan to sauté for a few minutes. Combine brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, salt, ketchup, and paprika in a small dish, then pour into the pan and stir. Allow the chicken stock to come to a boil before adding the chicken pieces, covering with a lid and cooking for 15 minutes.
Tips
– You may use any vegetable oil in lieu of the olive oil.
– You may modify the chile level of the Hawaiian chicken to your liking by adding or subtracting sweet paprika.
– You may prepare this amazing dish with just the breast or thighs of the chicken. This preparation also turns out nicely with skinless and boneless chicken pieces cut in to small cubes.
— While the chicken is cooking, make a cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. To make the cornstarch slurry, combine 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water until the cornstarch dissolves completely and there are no lumps.
– Make a coconut marinade for a more tropical taste. Allow the chicken to marinade overnight in a mixture of soy sauce, coconut milk, sesame oil, brown sugar, and garlic.
– Hawaiian chicken may also be baked. In a safe-oven pan, combine all ingredients and bake at 325°F for approximately 1 hour, stirring the chicken periodically.
Serving Suggestions for Hawaiian Chicken
Hawaiian Chicken goes well with light side dishes like cucumber salad, rice, or cauliflower rice.
Instructions
Clean and trim the chicken in a neat manner. With a sharp knife, cut the chicken into even-sized medium to large pieces. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces to the saucepan and cook them until they are golden brown. All of the chicken pieces should be flipped and seared on the other side until golden brown.
Remove the chicken pieces to a separate dish and return the green bell pepper to the same saucepan where the chicken was cooked.
Add the pineapple pieces to the saucepan and cook on low heat for 2 minutes.
In a small mixing bowl, add brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic cloves, salt, tomato ketchup, and sweet paprika, and stir to blend.
Toss in the sauce mix and give everything a good swirl.
Fill the saucepan halfway with chicken stock and bring to a boil. Cover the saucepan with a lid and add the seared chicken pieces to the boiling liquid. Cook the chicken over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it is fully cooked.
Scatter the scallion greens over the top of the saucepan. Enjoy the spicy Hawaiian chicken with rice!
