Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

    2. In a large frying pan, melt the butter or olive oil over medium heat. Cook for a few minutes, or until the onion is soft. Combine the garlic, ground beef, oregano or basil, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. While mixing, split the meat into smaller pieces using a spatula. Cook for another 8-10 minutes, or until the meat is no longer pink.

    3. Stir in the tomato paste and water until everything is well combined. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring periodically, for 20 minutes, uncovered. Prepare the pie crust in the meanwhile.

  1. Using a food processor or a fork, combine the crust ingredients.

  2. In a well-greased 9-10″ (23-25 cm) springform pan or deep-dish pie pan, place a circular piece of parchment paper. Press the dough evenly into the pan’s base and sides using a spatula or well-greased fingertips. To avoid bubbling, prick the base and sides of the crust with a fork.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the crust for 10 minutes. Remove the crust from the oven and fill it with the meat mixture.

  4. Combine the cottage cheese and shredded cheese in a small mixing bowl. Spread the topping on top of the pie.

  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes on the bottom rack, or until golden brown.
