There are about 10 ingredients in this rub, but you don’t need to measure–it’s all about taste. I’ve been using this on all of my steaks for years, and it always gets the “WOW” factor from people. I’ve been told it’s like no other steak rub you’ve ever tasted, and if you’re not sure, try it. You won’t be disappointed.

This is one of my best-kept secrets. Actually, it’s not so well-kept: I tell everybody this secret and most people simply don’t believe me… that is, until they’ve eaten one of my steaks 🙂 The fact is that my go-to seasoning is a store-bought seasoning: Lindberg Snider Porterhouse & Roast Seasoning.
This stuff is incredible. It’s almost as if you could squirt “tasty” on everything. Salt is the main component, as it is in most excellent rubs. Garlic, onion, black pepper, oregano, paprika, parsley, celery, and rosemary are then added to the mix. There is no distinct “celery” or “rosemary” taste since none of these herbs are overwhelming. Instead, you get a fantastic, full-bodied, savory taste that brings any protein to life.
Steaks, beer can chicken, grilled chicken thighs, hog chops, burgers, chilis or spicy bean dishes, stews… the list is endless. You can’t go wrong with it; I’ve yet to discover a protein that it doesn’t complement. The best way to use this is to slather it over ribeyes and grill them; this results in a wonderfully excellent steak that has gotten many “greatest steak ever” compliments. We no longer order ribeyes from restaurants because they are never as delicious as what we can make with this seasoning at home.
It’s especially excellent for slow carbers since, with all of our cooking, it’s great to have a dinner that’s quick and simple every now and again. Simply purchase a steak or chicken thighs, put the seasoning on them, and grill for a super-easy, super-satisfying evening dinner.
It can be hard to find – if you’re lucky enough to be in California (Southern California in particular) you can buy find it in some select groceries and butcher shops, such as the butchers in the Farmer’s Market. Since I moved to Northern California, I simply buy it off of Amazon.
