This is my first food post of the year, and it’s a Thanksgiving favorite. Turkey Meatloaf is a family favorite for good reason. It’s filling, it’s healthy, and it’s tasty. For those of you who have never made this meal before, we will keep it simple and show you what you need to know to make this easy and delicious meal.
Turkey Meatloaf is a generic name for many foods that all contain ground meat-based meatloaf. The first one of these was named by Sarah LaManna, a prolific cookbook author and food writer. She says the name was inspired by the fact that “meatloaf is a generic name for ground meat-based meatloaf”.
For the past year-and-a-half, my family and I have been trying to get rid of a turkey we inherited from my brother. I’d like to share our experience.. Read more about turkey meatloaf without breadcrumbs and let us know what you think.
Fancy Feast is the sponsor of this content.
Fancy Feast welcomed me to St Louis earlier this month to visit their facilities and learn more about their new Fancy Feast Savory Centers cat chow. If you’ve read my blog previously, you know how much I adore my cat Arya, so this was a great fit. We learnt about the culinary process for developing new products when visiting the Fancy Feast offices, and we met with Chef Amanda, who prepared a multi-course meal to demonstrate the concept and method for producing the savory centers cat food (of course, it all begins with human cuisine!). One of the dishes she prepared was a Meatloaf with Turkey, which was incredibly wonderful, and I knew I wanted to recreate it for this site at some time.
Holiday Feastivities Ornament
I also got an early peek at the 2019 Feastivities Ornament when I was at Purina, which is both beautiful and for a good cause. The profits from this ornament benefit Adopt-A-Pet.com, which helps homeless animals. By contributing here, you can receive your own ornament. This ornament is not only lovely but also indestructible, which is a big bonus for us cat owners! You will also get two ornaments if you contribute.
How to make a meatloaf using Thanksgiving leftovers
Thanksgiving leftovers may be used in a unique manner with Turkey Meatloaf. While your Thanksgiving turkey cannot be used for the ground meat, you may add pieces of leftover turkey to the meatloaf for additional texture.
Stale Bread: Do you have any leftover buns or bread from Thanksgiving? Allow them to get stale before grating into breadcrumbs for this recipe. It’s a fantastic method to repurpose stuff that would otherwise be discarded.
After a holiday dinner, who doesn’t have crudite or leftover vegetables? In this meatloaf recipe, I included onion and carrots in the mix. I softened the onion and carrot in a skillet before adding them to the meatloaf mixture. You may also add any leftover herbs or vegetables.
Cranberry Sauce: Although ketchup reigns supreme in meatloaf recipes, change it up and top that turkey meatloaf with cranberry sauce! Cranberries go well with turkey, and this dish will benefit from their tart sweetness.
What is the purpose of breadcrumbs in meatloaf?
Breadcrumbs are added to meatloaf to lighten the texture and give a little of binding to keep the meatloaf from falling apart. Breadcrumbs soaked in milk are used in many meatloaf recipes to add moisture to the meatloaf. Because of the fine grain, I use italian style breadcrumbs in my meatloaf, however creating your own breadcrumbs works just as well!
What is the ideal temperature for cooking meatloaf?
Make sure the meat is cooked thoroughly, just like any other poultry dish. This meatloaf will take approximately 45 minutes to bake at 375 degrees. Before removing it from the oven, I also use a thermometer to ensure that the interior temperature is at least 160 degrees.
