You just need 5 ingredients to make your next favorite autumn drink! Warm, flavorful, and totally gratifying, this Toasty Bourbon Cider made from apples Cocktail is a must-try. The delicate sweetness of apples, the tartness of cranberries, and the warmth of cinnamon and whiskey combine to create this a winner. This drink also has the additional advantage of filling your home with a delicious aroma while it simmers — a win-win situation.
If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly on the lookout for something tasty and easy to prepare that will wow both your taste buds and your pals. This drink delivered on both counts! Aside from the taste, one of my favorite aspects of this recipe is how the simmering mixture makes my home smell JUST. LIKE. FALL. This, in my opinion, makes this a seasonal favorite. You may make it in a hurry or put it on the burner and let it simmer for hours – the decision is yours! I like to utilize fragrance to improve the atmosphere in my home as well as taste to enrich my soul.
Why do I have to wait until I’m ready to serve to add the bourbon?
Alcohol will evaporate at high temperatures, namely 172 degrees Fahrenheit. As a result, any boiling or simmering liquid may cause the alcohol to evaporate. The alcohol should be added last to get the full impact and flavor of the drink.
What other alcoholic beverage complements apple cider?
Alcohols with a dark, amber color, in my view, would be excellent in warm apple cider. Any kind of whiskey or a good dark rum would suffice. You could try brandy, but since brandy is sweeter than bourbon or whiskey, you should pour a bit less. Please let me know how it goes if you try anything different!
To make our Toasty Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail, combine the following ingredients:
- Apple Cider
- Juice of cranberries
- Nutmeg
- Cinnamon
- Bourbon ——> We love Woodford!
- Apples, cranberries, and cinnamon sticks for garnish
To create our Toasty Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail, follow these steps:
Add 1/2 gallon apple cider, 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a few cinnamon sticks to a big saucepan. Stir gently to break up the spices and thoroughly combine all of the ingredients.
Garnish with fresh cranberries and apple slices after stirring. For the autumn season, I used a snowflake cookie cutter to form the apple slices. When you’re ready to add the apple slices, take out the seeds.
Allow the mixture to simmer and heat through completely before serving. On medium-low heat, this should only take approximately 15 minutes.
Add the bourbon just before serving. Check to see whether the liquid is boiling or emitting steam. If it is, you run the danger of the bourbon’s alcohol evaporating due to the high heat. That’s why you should add the bourbon last!
Spoon the cocktail mix into a coffee cup using a ladle, attempting to include some of the apples, cinnamon sticks, and cranberries. They provide such a lovely touch to the drink! Enjoy!
So, if you’re looking for a different Friday night drink, give this one a try. Simply reduce all of the components proportionately if you want a smaller quantity. Because the bourbon is poured last, I usually offer my kids a little cup BEFORE the alcohol is added, so they feel grown up and get to enjoy a small cup of autumn. Just saying… this drink goes well with our Pumpkin Spice Bundt Cake.
