Making chocolate crinkle biscuits from scratch
While this recipe calls for chocolate chips rather of cocoa powder, it goes a step further by melting the chips and incorporating them into the batter. If you can’t tell, I do this a lot with my chocolate cookie recipe, and I swear it’s the greatest technique out there.
Melting chocolate into cookies gives the cookies a deeper taste, which is ideal for a chocoholic like myself. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it can make to a basic dish if you give it a try!
Ingredients for Cinnamon Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
a quarter cup of butter
a quarter-cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup brown sugar, packed
a quarter cup of corn syrup
-1 egg
-2 cups flour (all-purpose)
-2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
-1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon powder, divided
a quarter teaspoon of salt
-a half-cup of powdered sugar
Chocolate Crinkle Cookies: How to Make Them
In a microwave-safe dish, melt the butter and chocolate chips and mix until smooth. 30 second intervals with stirring in between should enough.
Combine the brown sugar and corn syrup in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer until thoroughly combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and chocolate butter mixture.
Combine the flour, baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt in a separate basin. Blend this mixture into the brown sugar mixture gradually. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for approximately 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the powdered sugar and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl.
Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop out the dough. Place it in the powdered sugar mixture after rolling it into a ball.
Place the cookies on a baking sheet that has been lined.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops of the cookies are cracked and the cookies are firm. Cool for 2 minutes on the pans before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
What’s the deal with my chocolate crinkle cookies being flat?
Overall, Crinkle Cookies are a little flat. The most common cause of a flat crinkle cookie is not chilling the dough long enough. Regardless of what you do, be sure to refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes. This keeps the dough (and butter) cold during baking, allowing it to puff out nicely.
How Do You Make Cookies With a Crackle Effect?
This occurs as a result of the baking process. As the cookies bake and expand, the powdered sugar covering spreads apart, exposing the chocolate cookie within and powdered sugar islands on top, producing a distinctive pattern.
