I have been trying out keto for the last couple months, and I wanted to show you how it’s working for me. For those of you who don’t know, keto is a low carbohydrate, high fat diet. In this post, I will show you the keto meals I’ve been trying and share with you my success (or lack thereof) during this process.

I would like to share with you the 5 Week Keto Meal Plan I have created and used to successfully lose weight and feel better about myself. I would like to share with you my Keto Experience and Recipes with you.

Why should you take part?

We may share a lot of interests. Obesity plagued me as a kid and for the most of my adult life. I’ve failed at every diet I’ve attempted, just like so many others. Limiting calories, eating low-calorie meals, exercising religiously, trying out fads like all-you-can-eat soup, and keeping score to the decimal point were all part of my job as a nutritionist.

Each time, I began with great hopes, a strong resolve, and money spent on a plan, medication, or drink that represented the day’s fresh promise. Each time, I experienced a fleeting triumph, just to be disappointed in my body even more. My sorrow grew with each failure, and I began to question what was wrong with me. Why didn’t I get a passing grade?

It wasn’t for a lack of motivation. It wasn’t because I liked the hardships of obesity – ill-fitting clothing, insults, the humiliation of being big, panting while walking even small distances, and continuously trying to figure out how to squeeze into a chair.

When I first began the ketogenic diet in June 2013, I was cautiously optimistic. I wasn’t sure whether it would work, but I was willing to give it a go and agreed to a two-week trial period. The science was obvious, and I’d been told by a friend that even a little amount of Hershey’s Kiss might throw you off. For the next two weeks, no kissing!

I’ve done crazier things throughout my life. I ate protein, fat, and low-carb veggies for two weeks. There is no sugar or starch in this recipe… You don’t say anything. Two weeks seems to be a modest commitment. For a long time, I’ve been eating terrible diet cabbage soup. This time, at least, I had bacon. I plunged right in.

Finally, I started to lose weight. Keto was the start of a completely new way of life for me! In addition, a new, healthier connection with eating has emerged.

I’ve learnt a lot since I began following the keto diet more than six years ago. Not only were the improvements in my physical health exciting, but so was my new attitude toward eating. My dietetic profession has progressed from failure to failure to long-term success.

Even better, as a community leader, I am able to not only share my accomplishment with others, but also assist them in achieving their own success on a daily basis. My career is now on a strict diet!

Every Friday, I’ll give you the results from the previous week. For the first three weeks, I planned meals around my favorite dishes. The meals I selected contain keto macros, are simple to prepare using common items, and are very tasty!
