A few months back, I posted a recipe to make a no-knead bread. I have to say that I was the first to try and make the bread. I started by trying out the recipe which was posted on the website called “Breadtopia” The recipe was posted by a Chef named Stephen. The recipe was very simple and easy to follow.
I was craving a fried bread when I saw this recipe in my cookbook and it was just perfect. It was easy to make and and I loved the taste. It was such a hit, I served it to a few friends and they also loved it.
This is a bread I make from my mother’s recipe. It has a unique flavor and texture, and is really good. She used to make it for all the family members, but I have not been able to eat it since I was young, because I dislike the smell. Now I can eat it with great pleasure.. The Khmer people adore yucca root (cassava roots). From soup to dessert, cassava roots are used. This curry bread is prepared with cassava root shredded and Khmer spices. Let’s get started on the Fried Curry Bread.

2 green onion stalks, minced
2 tbsp lemon grass, minced (fresh or frozen)
2 minced spicy chile peppers or to taste
curry powder (1 tablespoon)
4 cups vegetable oil (deep frying)
a quarter teaspoon of salt (option) |
Cooking Instructions for Fried Curry Bread
- Squeeze the juice from the shredded cassava root and combine it with the green onion, lemon grass, hot chili pepper, and curry powder in a large mixing bowl.
- Form the cassava mixture into a tiny, elongated finger shape. Set it aside after you’re finished.
- In a skillet or wok, heat the oil to a high temperature. When the oil is heated, cook the curry bread till golden. Removed fried bread from hot oil and drained excess oil through a sieve. Before serving, sprinkle with salt.
- Note: Before deep frying cassava bread, make sure the oil is boiling hot. Otherwise, the bread will break apart.

The title may indicate the recipe I am about to share with you is a bit of a departure from the usual paleo diet recipes I post here. However, despite the rather unusual ingredients, I make this bread from time to time. My favourite use for it is to make a delicious and filling meal the night before I run. I will make it the night before, then when I wake up the next morning, I will have a couple of slices, a cup of coffee, and I will be good to go!.
