I hope I could get back into shape like I used to.

That’s what a former classmate told me the last time we spoke.

I don’t know how I’ll manage with kids, a developing company, and all the other things I have to accomplish. I just don’t have time to be in shape.

Since high school, my buddy had gained approximately 30 pounds, and they were obviously not healthy pounds. There isn’t a gram of muscle in sight.

He informed me that his cholesterol and blood pressure had increased. He complained of fatigue and even despair on occasion.

He remarked, holding his stomach, “I truly want to do something about it,” and “I want to feel good again.” But how can I find the time to workout as often as I used to?

I couldn’t help but feel sorry for this guy as I sat there.

He’s a great guy with a wonderful wife, two young children, a burgeoning consulting firm, and two elderly parents to look after. As a result, it was aggravating to see him feel imprisoned and helpless.

However, here’s the thing: He shouldn’t be feeling this way.

Hectic individuals all around the world have time to maintain their health and fitness while leading busy lifestyles.

I’m one of them, so I know.

I’m married with two young children, operate a thriving company, and have a slew of additional responsibilities that require my attention on a daily basis. Despite this, I manage to prioritize my health and fitness.

Moreover, our staff assists hundreds of other busy and stressed individuals every day in becoming healthy and managing their health.

We can also assist you if you want to look and feel better.

Look, you’re thinking incorrectly.

Returning to my buddy, the first piece of advise I offered him – and it’s advice I give to all guys – was to abandon the notion that what we did in school was the greatest way to stay in shape.

To be honest, what we did back then was a bit of a blunder. Strength training for one or two hours? Except for Sunday, every day? What a waste of time and effort.

But I believe we had a lot of time and energy to squander back then. How quickly things have changed!

Of course, if we knew more or had the proper knowledge, we could take care of ourselves. We, on the other hand, did not. As a result, we spent too much time at the gym and performed the incorrect things, resulting in a lack of stability.

We were, after all, in uniform. But we were young, had a fast metabolism, and despite our regimen, we were successful. That is not the case.

Indeed, the aches and pains we complain about now – aching knees, twisted shoulders, and elbows – are most likely the result of our dull education.

As I was telling a friend:

The good news is that getting back in shape doesn’t have to be as difficult as it was in school. You don’t want it at all, in fact. I have another suggestion that is far more effective, takes much less time, and fits within your existing schedule.

First, choose a workout plan that is easier and shorter.

We began with a completely different approach than the six exercises a week that were all pulled directly from the pages of Men’s Health magazine.

He performed the following every week:

  • 2 x 30 minute strength training sessions, mostly using bodyweight movements
  • 2 × 15-minute interval training on the treadmill or on the sports track outdoors
  • 1 × 60-minute stroll with the family outdoors

So, instead of working out for 9 hours a week – plus the time it takes to go to and from the gym – he will work out for less than 3 hours a week. And if he wanted to, he could do most things in his own house.

He could also accomplish everything on his own time and modify training days and hours to suit his busy and always changing schedule.

Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? That isn’t the case at all. (After all, this is sound counsel I provided to a long-time buddy with whom I’ve shared 20 years.)

When developed by a competent trainer, this kind of minimalist training works very effectively. Coaching, in fact, is founded on this method. As a consequence, even the busiest guys may benefit much from this approach.

Following that, you’ll get tips on how to enhance your meals.

Yes, physical activity is important. Nutrition, on the other hand, is the solution for busy, stressed-out individuals who want to reduce weight or get back in shape. As a result, I also offered some dietary recommendations.

I urged him to forget what we had done at the time. We used to be able to consume full milk, protein drinks, chicken breast, and steamed broccoli when we were younger. However, today’s goals are different.

He must also consider his family. Forcing his wife and children to eat the bodybuilder’s diet – or to make special recipes for him – would do more damage than good.

So, as is customary in PN coaching, we began with food patterns.

During the first two weeks of his new exercise regimen, he took a multivitamin and 1 gram of fish oil for each percentage of body fat (he took 25 g per day). It was, indeed. The first two weeks were difficult.

Then, every two weeks, we introduced a new eating behavior. Some of his habits had to do with how he ate, while others had to do with what he ate, how much he ate, and when he ate.

But they all came about gradually, with one habit building on the one before it.

In the end, we didn’t make too many changes all at once.

The changes seemed minor because they were gradual. It’s almost too tiny. His diet, however, had totally altered by the end of the year.

Finally, think less and do more.

It’s precisely what guys with a lot of responsibility – and stress – need.

When you’re 19, you have plenty of time to read, study, and devise wacky exercise routines and diets. (However, a competent coach will always outperform you.)

It takes time and mental energy to concentrate on being a decent spouse at 40, doing your best as a parent, doing your best at work, keeping the home in order, and making sure the bills are paid.

Is there any more nonsense you need to make sense of it all? Most likely not.

As a result, it’s important to locate someone who can think about and prepare everything for you when it comes to fitness. This allows you to concentrate on one thing: your company.

This, according to our most successful NP customers, was the key to their success.

They were able to attain the greatest fitness of their life without worrying or being irritated at every stage by trusting our coaching method and just following what we instructed them to do.

Because I wanted to send my buddy the following message:

30 pounds gained in a short period of time may quickly turn into 50 pounds gained in a short period of time. Type 2 diabetes is readily caused by high blood sugar levels. High cholesterol is also a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

So it’s not a matter of me finding the time to get in shape. Is there ever a moment when I shouldn’t do something?
