If you are lactose intolerant, then chocolate ice cream can be difficult to find, or even impossible, as most brands contain milk, butter, and/or cream and are not lactose free. So, when I came across this recipe for making dairy free chocolate ice cream, I thought, “Hey, why not give it a try?” So, last week I made my own version of homemade dairy free chocolate ice cream.
This summer, we can’t get enough ice cream! There are so many flavors to choose from and so many ways to prepare it! This dairy-free chocolate ice cream has just three ingredients and no one would realize it’s prepared without milk!
I was diagnosed with a milk allergy a few years ago. This was awful news for an ice cream enthusiast like myself! I didn’t believe I’d ever again taste delicious, creamy REAL ice cream! Some of the dairy-free companies have refined their formula, but one of my favorite ways to consume ice cream has always been in the backyard at a barbecue! This recipe was created by myself, and I’ve never looked back! It’s eaten by my whole family, and friends and family members confess they had no clue it wasn’t prepared with dairy!
Is lactose-free the same as dairy-free?
The term “dairy free” refers to the absence of any actual dairy products in the components. Plants, such as grains and nuts, are used to make these milk products. These items are lactose-free by nature. Lactose originates from actual dairy, so if you’re allergic to it, be sure it says dairy-free rather than simply lactose-free.
Is this ice cream freezer-friendly?
Yes! This freezes beautifully! This dish doesn’t last long enough in my home to make it to the freezer, but when it does, the texture remains lovely and creamy and not icy! We enjoy storing our handmade ice cream in these containers.
Is it necessary for me to use an ice cream machine?
While you are not need to use an ice cream machine, we believe it is a lot of fun! If you like, you may combine the three ingredients in a large mixing bowl and create it in the same manner as our Coffee Creamer Ice Cream.
