Easy Thai Chicken Satay + Video | Thai Recipes

For the second time in less than a month, I am attempting to conquer this recipe. I enjoy cooking and I enjoy eating delicious food prepared by other people. Honestly, I’m pretty terrible at cooking myself. I find myself lacking in the food preparation department most of the time. So I have a few friends and family members who are willing to help me out with my cooking woes.  This recipe was requested by my friend, Corina. She was worried that something might go wrong and she would never be able to eat the sauce made from the chicken thighs.  So, here’s the recipe as it appears on the recipe card.

When you want to enjoy a quick satay that doesn’t need much preparation, it’s time to try Thai Satay. This is a simple dish that can be prepared in less than 5 minutes, tastes great and is perfect for a snack. This is how to prepare Thai Satay:

Chicken satay is one of those dishes that is very simple to make, but tastes so good. The chicken is marinated and then grilled, and you can use any type of vegetables. And there is a video recipe too!. Read more about thai chicken satay recipe and let us know what you think.

With only a few basic ingredients, you can make this popular Thai snack at home.

Satay Chicken may be found on the appetizer menu of any Thai restaurant in the United States.

Satay, on the other hand, is a popular Thai street dish served with sticky rice or spicy papaya salad as a meal. That is, without a doubt, my preferred method of consumption.

Satay may be prepared with chicken, pork, or beef, although chicken is the most common choice at local restaurants. If you like this famous Thai meal, you’ll be happy to learn that it’s simple to prepare at home using just a few simple ingredients.

My recipe is a simplified version since it does not need grinding spices and aromatics into a paste, like genuine satay marinade requires. Instead, I make a marinade using coconut milk, curry powder, turmeric, and garlic.

Two skewers of Chicken Satay on a white plate with cucumber relish on the side.

The coconut milk tenderizes the chicken and gives it a pleasant flavor, while the curry powder replicates the tastes of traditional spices, and the turmeric adds color and health benefits to the satay.

When eating satay, the peanut dipping sauce is also extremely popular. This thing is addicting, I warn you! I can use this on pretty much everything, but it’s really good for dipping meat and even fresh vegetables.

Leftovers may be kept in the fridge for a few days in an airtight container. Because the peanut sauce is a bit thick, the cucumber salad provides crisp, acidity, and a little spice from the jalapenos to help balance it out.

Equipment

  • Skewers made of wood

  • Grilling or cooking on the stove

Instructions

Chicken Satay

  • Cube the chicken breast into 1 inch cubes of about the same size to ensure uniform cooking.

  • Combine coconut milk, curry powder, turmeric, garlic, salt, and pepper in a large mixing basin. Allow the chicken to marinade in the refrigerator for at least an hour, but preferably overnight.

  • Soak wooden skewers in water 30 minutes before cooking if using a grill.

  • Thread chicken chunks onto skewers and put in a dish or pan to transfer to the grill; the chicken will be a bit messy, so you’ll need something strong to transport it. Also, be aware that the turmeric may color your hands yellow, so use gloves to avoid this. Grill chicken skewers on both sides until completely done, approximately 8 minutes each side. Check the temperature of the chicken using a meat thermometer to see whether it has reached 165 degrees.

Sauce made with peanuts

  • In a small sauce pan, combine all of the ingredients for the peanut sauce, bring to a boil, and whisk until smooth and creamy. Take the pan off the heat and put it on a serving dish. The leftovers may be kept in the refrigerator for a few days. Reheat the sauce for 20 seconds on the stove or in the microwave, stirring after each time.

Cucumber Relish is a relish made from cucumbers.

  • Cucumbers, red onions, and jalapenos should all be diced. Combine sugar and vinegar in a mixing bowl and stir in the other ingredients. Refrigerate the mixture until ready to serve. It may be kept in the refrigerator for up to two days.

  • Serve hot chicken satay with warm peanut sauce and cucumber relish on the side.

Notes

Cook marinated chicken in a pan until completely done without using skewers.
