When you’re following a low carb diet, portion control is extremely important to make sure you’re getting enough healthy fats and fiber to help you feel satisfied. That’s why this low carb orange chicken recipe is perfect for anyone following a low carb diet.

Hello, my name is Tara, and I am a low carb, keto and paleo blogger, cookbook author and a happiness and health coach. Low carb, keto or paleo? What does this mean? Low carb is a diet in which you eat less than 20 grams of carbs per day. Keto is a high fat, moderate protein and low carb diet. Low Carb Orange Chicken is an amazing dish that comes together quickly and is so delicious! Serve it with brown rice or cauliflower rice and enjoy!

Carbs, carbs, and more carbs. Most of us follow a diet around our carb limits, but there are plenty of people who are eating well above their carb limit. So, this week let’s talk about the most obvious “carbless” dish: Orange Chicken. Once you start to go low carb, just about everything can be low carb. This “hidden carb” dish is one of the best options for low carb eaters.

In our home, Asian dishes are a mainstay. We were sticking to the fundamentals for a while, including our Cauliflower Fried Rice, until we came across this Orange Chicken with Low Carbs! The meat is substantial and tender, and the sauce is sweet and tangy, making it the ideal pairing. If you, like us, are a sucker for anything Asian and orange, you’ll adore this dish. It may need a little more effort on your part, but it is well worth the effort!

One Of Our Low-Carb Favorites!

You may be wondering why this is one of our favorite dinners. So, let me ask you a question. Do the photos seem to be low-carb? Do these seem to be a healthy take-out alternative? It’s likely that you answered no since it’s the genuine deal! It’s difficult not to make one of your favorite low-carb dinners when something tastes so delicious yet is prepared from whole ingredients and you know precisely what went into it. This will undoubtedly become a family favorite and a weekly fixture in your home!

Low-Carb Chinese Cuisine

Chinese cuisine has always made me feel the most guilty. Mostly because I couldn’t seem to keep myself in check. The combination of salty, savory, meaty, fatty noodles and rice is enticing. I’m sure you understand how I feel. I love indulging too much to deprive myself of Chinese cuisine, so I developed some of the finest low-carb Chinese dishes that I could enjoy guilt-free. Give our simple cashew chicken, lemon chicken, and egg roll in a bowl a try and include them in your next take-out order!

Time to prepare: 20 minutes

Instructions:

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the pork rinds, coconut flour, black pepper (and optionally mct oil powder) and pulse until a fine powder is formed. Pour the contents of the shaker into a medium mixing basin.

  • Pat your chicken breasts dry before cutting them into tiny 12 inch cubes. Set aside after seasoning with salt.

  • In a big pan, pour approximately 2 teaspoons of frying oil. Toss a handful of chicken cubes in the pork rind mixture, shaking off any excess, and place in the pan. Make sure the pieces don’t overcrowd the pan; otherwise, you’ll have to fry them in batches. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown, then flip with tongs and cook for another 3 minutes, or until amber brown.

  • Remove the chicken from the pan and put it on a dish lined with paper towels. Repeat with the following batch of chicken until all of the chicken is cooked.

  • Heat a small sauce pot over medium-high heat to make the sauce. Stir together the coconut oil and erythritol in a small sauce saucepan.

  • Set aside the zest from the entire orange (approximately 1 tablespoon), as well as the garlic cloves and ginger, in a small bowl. Peel the orange and cut it in half.

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the orange zest mixture, then squeeze half of the orange juice into the sauce pot as well. Stir well and bring to a low boil, then reduce to a low boil while you finish cooking the chicken. It should be stirred every now and again. Remove it from the heat after it has thickened and become glaze-like.

  • Place the chicken on a serving plate or in a bowl to serve. Pour the orange glaze over it, and if desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds. This is delicious served with greens or cauliflower rice.
