I’ve been secretly trying to make a chocolate chip cookie recipe that’s the BEST ever since I found a recipe that’s the next best thing to the real thing. Obviously, I had to come up with something a little more suitable, so I took it to the next level. The end results were pretty tasty, if I do say so myself.
When my husband and I first started dating, we would go out to nice restaurants and order elaborate meals. We were dating our first year of college, and I wanted to impress him. I also wanted to be able to say I had tried everything. My favorite thing to order when we went out was a chocolate chip pizookie. I could not get enough of the cookies. They were comforting, warm, and tasted exactly how a cookie should taste.
This is a recipe blog, where we share the tried and true recipes for making the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Over the years we have found that it is not just about the recipe, but also about the technique. We have done everything from simple tips to techniques to the ultimate secret to making the best cookies.
You are really missing out if you have never tried a Pizookie! Pizza biscuit (pizookie) Our Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pizookie is a great way to use your dough for more than simply cookies. You start with delicious cookie dough, flatten it into an equal layer in a cast iron pan, then bake it to perfection! Add ice cream and chocolate syrup for a delicious dessert that will be gone in less than 5 minutes!!
My family was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona around seven years ago. We had just relocated from a small town in Oklahoma and had determined that we wanted to dine out at EVERY restaurant and do EVERYTHING we thought we had missed out on during the previous five years. BJ’s Brewhouse was one of our favorite hangout spots. They were the first place we’d heard of a Pizookie, and they were INCREDIBLE. We decided we HAD to come up with our own recipe when we had to relocate a year after we’d been there. This dish will not let you down!
Who came up with the idea for the pizookie?
After conducting some research, we discovered that it was created by BJ’s Brewhouse! I had no clue, but it makes perfect sense, and they are incredible. You may choose from a number of tastes, as well as a “flight” of tiny pizookies if you can’t pick! PLUS… if you live near one, they offer a “Free Pizookie Day” once a year!
For our Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pizookie, we used the following ingredients:
- Ice Cream with Vanilla Flavor
- Dough for cookies
- Syrup de chocolat
- Skillet made of cast iron
To create our Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pizookie, follow these steps:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Using baking spray, coat your cast-iron skillet.
In the middle of the pan, place approximately 1 1/2 cups of cookie dough. Gently press the cookie dough out with the back of a spoon. Manipulate it until it’s evenly spread and approximately 1/2 inch thick in the pan.
Place firmly covered in foil in the oven. Cover the skillet and bake for another 25 minutes. Return to the oven and cook for another 5-7 minutes. When the dough begins to pull away from the edges and the top is a beautiful toasty brown color, you know it’s done.
For approximately 5-8 minutes, we let it cool/set. Serve with ice cream scoops and chocolate syrup drizzled over top. If you don’t want to share a dish, cut the pizookie into ‘pizza-like’ slices, put on a separate plate, and top with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Enjoy!
This is without a doubt one of our favorite sweets! It’s a frenzy where everyone is out for themselves! We all come in with a spoon in hand when this baby comes out of the oven and dig right in. It never lasts more than 5 minutes in our household of four. We’re sorry, but we’re not sorry. Use whichever dough you like, but bear in mind that the baking time may vary depending on the dough, so keep an eye on it. We strongly suggest our Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough since it never fails! Friends, have a great meal!
