I don’t know about you, but my family is always having one of these conversations: “Sam, I’m hungry. What did you have for breakfast? I’m hungry now.” “Oh man, I was so hungry I ate an entire rotisserie chicken last night.” “Wait. What? Really? Are you serious?” “Yep! I know, right? It was so good, and I ate it all!”
Sam’s Club has some of the best tasting products you can buy at a reasonable price. Whether it’s their chicken salad, or their fresh baked bread, you can rest assured that Sam’s Club will only bring you the best products. There is one exception to this statement however: their rotisserie chicken.
It’s time for another chicken salad recipe on this blog! This time, it’s for a salad that I’ve loved eating at Sam’s Club for years, and it’s great for lunch or a light dinner. The recipe includes the typical ingredients of a chicken salad–lettuce, chicken, celery, red onion, and mayo–but it’s something special with the addition of a few unusual ingredients.
Delicious Sam’s Club Rotisserie Chicken Salad with just 6 ingredients! This recipe includes chopped chicken, celery, grapes, relish, diced pickles, and mayonnaise, as well as a hidden ingredient that makes all the difference!
What’s the recipe for the secret ingredient?!
I seldom cooked chicken salad when I was first married since it seemed like a lot of effort for little return. I hated having to cube the ingredients while also cooking the chicken, allowing it to cool before shredding and mixing with the rest of the ingredients. Now you don’t have to be afraid! Using a Sam’s Club rotisserie chicken instead is the greatest solution I’ve found. It’s what gives our chicken salad its name and contributes to the overall taste of the meal.
Sam’s Club Rotisserie Chicken Salad Ingredients
- 1 rotisserie chicken from Sam’s Club
- Mayonnaise (1/2 cup)
- 2 c celery, diced
- 2 C Grapes, Diced
- a quarter cup of sweet relish
- 1/4 cup pickles, diced
When it comes to chicken salad, how long does it last?
Chicken salad can keep in your refrigerator for 3 to 5 days if kept correctly. If your chicken salad has been left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours, it should be discarded. To avoid spoilage, keep mayonnaise refrigerated at all times when making recipes that call for it.
Can rotisserie chicken salad be frozen?
Unfortunately, the chicken salad cannot be frozen; however, the chicken can be frozen! Getting a hot-to-the-touch container is the first step in selecting a rotisserie chicken. If you don’t use the whole chicken, you may store leftovers for up to four months in a zip-lock freezer bag. Stocking up on chickens while they’re on sale is a technique we aim to use. Freeze these and have them on hand for a quick supper. Our nearest Sam’s Club is more than 30 minutes away, and I don’t always make it there regularly. I purchase a few at a time, divide them up into bags, and freeze them for later!
Why should I use pickles and relish in the same dish?
Sweet and salty in equal measure! When preparing chicken salad, we sought to strike a balance between sweet and salty flavors. Always add a sweet relish to give it a naturally sweet flavor in every mouthful. Provide tiny, chopped pickle chunks next, which add a little crunch and act as a natural salting agent. We feel that combining the two enhances the flavor of the chicken salad.
Chicken Salad: How to Make It:
To begin, remove as much of the chicken as possible from the bones. When the chicken is still warm, we find it easier to accomplish this.
In a large mixing bowl, dice the chicken.
The celery should then be washed, dried, and diced into tiny bite-size pieces. Add to the mixing bowl.
The pickles should next be diced into small pieces and added to the chicken and celery.
Grapes should be washed and dried. Cut in half and combine with the other ingredients. (I chop big grapes into 1/4ths if I’m using them.)
To mix the components, stir them together.
Finally, gently drizzle in the mayonnaise. Adding a spoonful at a time is recommended. Some people like more mayo than others, and you never want to overdo it!
On a croissant, of course!
Fun fact: This salad improves with age! The flavor is excellent when the components mix over the course of a few hours!
When we know we’ll be on the boat or have a full week of sports and being in the vehicle ahead of us, this is our go-to meal. It’s simple to put in a Tupperware container and store in our cooler, then spoon onto a croissant when we’re hungry. Pita bread is a fantastic alternative to a croissant if you’re managing your weight. It’s tasty and keeps the salad mixture in place nicely for eating in the vehicle or while watching a game on the sidelines!
What should I serve with the Rotisserie Chicken Salad from Sam’s Club?
If you’re not worried about calories, potato chips are always quick and tasty, or a simple salad like our Bacon Broccoli Salad if you are. Tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, bell pepper, and fennel may all be chopped up and seasoned with salt, pepper, sliced garlic, and fresh basil. We’ve discovered that we don’t need to add anything more to the salad since the taste and texture are already ideal.
This dish yields a surprising quantity of food. Depending on how you divide it, it can serve up to 10 people. This meal goes a long way and is usually a crowd favorite, whether you’re hosting a large party or simply looking for something different for your personal family.
