‘Keto Is a Way I Can Eat Because I Love the Food!’ —

I was in a mood for something sweet when I spotted an old favorite at my local grocer. A study on keto and weight loss has been making the rounds lately, and I was curious to see what the “latest” buzz was all about. When I hopped on the scales after a keto snack, my thoughts went straight to the “pleasantly surprised” comments that always follow. The truth is, I have never understood the appeal of “low carb” foods, or why anyone would want to cut out carbs entirely. As far as I am concerned, carbs are good for my body, and keto is not a lifestyle I could ever imagine myself living.

Food is great. So many different options, tastes, textures, and flavors. But, the truth is that not all foods are created equally. If you are looking for a way to eat that is not only healthy for you, but also tasty, then you need to try “keto”.

My name is Jamie and I am a self-described “health nut.” I spend my days sharing stories about living the ketogenic lifestyle and sharing recipes and ideas for healthy eating.. Read more about keto for food addiction and let us know what you think.

In less than a year, type 2 diabetes was decreased, osteoarthritis was alleviated, and weight was lowered by 63 pounds (or 29 pounds). Is it a little far-fetched? Patricia, on the other hand, no longer sees it that way!

Patricia achieved all of the above after converting to keto in August 2019 – and, more significantly, the dress of her dreams now fits her wonderfully (you can see it in the photo above).

Patricia explains how the keto diet was the catalyst for her health transformation.

Patricia learns that the one time she wasn’t overweight was when she was in kindergarten when she looked back at old photographs. The weight began to rise after the first meal. She hasn’t been able to maintain a healthy weight since then.

Patricia, who is an ordinary eight-year-old, says she began using food as a replacement for attention and comfort at an early age.

Patricia was aware that diabetes runs in her family and that it might ultimately affect her. Unfortunately, this forewarning was insufficient to alter his condition at the time. Instead, she continued to consume things that she considered to be fairly nutritious.

Baked potatoes, eggs, bananas, bacon, and whole wheat bread were staples in Patricia’s diet. She would have begun her day with a fruit yogurt and peanut butter if she hadn’t been sick. Lunch was mostly salads, and supper was diverse, although carbohydrates were included in almost every meal.

Patricia also has arthritis, which causes her joints’ cartilage to erode away over time. Her knee and hip had to be replaced as a consequence.

Finding the drive to make a diet adjustment

In May 2019, Patricia’s hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), a marker of long-term blood glucose, rose to 7.4%. She now has type 2 diabetes as a result of this. Her doctor prescribed metformin 500 mg twice a day to manage her diabetes.

When she visited her doctor again in August 2019, her HbA1c had increased to 7.7% despite taking her medication. Patricia claims that despite the medicine, things did not proceed as well as they should have.

Patricia was given a wake-up call at this critical juncture. She understood for the first time that she needed to alter her eating habits in order to enhance her health.

Patricia has attempted low-carb diets before but has never been successful in sticking to them. Thankfully, the nurse said, “Go to and they will provide you with the assistance you need.”

Patricia was a coworker of Christy Sullivan, which is important to note. Patricia thought the keto diet was an excellent diet for long-term weight management after seeing Christy lose weight on it.

I constantly stress the importance of being prepared before beginning a ketogenic diet. The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was a powerful motivation for me to make changes.

I constantly stress the importance of being prepared before beginning a ketogenic diet. The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was a major motivation for improvement in Patricia’s situation.

What occurred when Patricia began following the Keto diet?

Patricia began a 5-week keto diet with Christy in August 2019 and started to work. She studied the program’s keto portions every day, watched the videos, and followed the meal plans. She soon understood that the keto diet was just a method for me to eat because I like eating.

Patricia started dropping weight almost quickly after switching to keto. Despite a few plateaus in the first year, which she blames on eating too many carbohydrates, she dropped 63 pounds (or 29 pounds) compared to her starting weight.

Another plus: I discovered my ideal dress for my daughter’s wedding in April in November. It didn’t make sense at the moment. But by February, Patricia adds, she’ll be able to close it up.

Patricia’s type 2 diabetes has progressively improved after she converted to the keto diet. She progressively decreased the dosage of her diabetic medication with the assistance of her nurse until she was able to discontinue it on day 8. The month of June 2020 has the potential to be fully sold out.

Patricia’s osteoarthritis significantly improved when she began the keto diet. And she wishes she had learned about the keto diet’s benefits sooner.

I could have spared myself years of misery if I had dropped weight a few years sooner! But, due to the joint replacement, I now have greater flexibility and endurance without discomfort. They even dubbed me Titanium Trish! Patricia explains.

She continues, “Fortunately, my remaining hip is free of arthritis.”

Patricia’s appetite for exercise was also restored thanks to Keto. She decided to join up for a class at a newly established gym in her neighborhood a few months into her keto adventure that autumn.

When it comes to athletics, I lack personal drive. Someone needs to push me. That is why the classes are ideal for me, Patricia explains.

Patricia’s boyfriend began going to the gym around the same time. Training was a lot more enjoyable with him around. They still get together to stroll even though the gyms are closed due to the coronavirus.

Patricia’s Keto strategy

Patricia ate three meals a day when she became keto. We had scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and roasted peppers, onions, and mushrooms for breakfast. She also fried the bacon ahead of time and tossed it into the casserole.

I never imagined I’d be able to eat just two meals each day.

Patricia gradually started to put off breakfast until she was able to do without it entirely and eat just twice a day. Patricia adds, “I never imagined I’d be able to eat just twice a day.”

Lunch nowadays is typically a tuna or chicken salad with mayonnaise. Patricia’s husband typically barbecues chicken, steak, or pig for supper, and she finishes the meal by roasting veggies in the oven.

Professional advice: Broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, zucchini, and summer squash are the finest veggies to roast, according to Patricia.

Patricia’s favorite meals are listed below:

I have been on a keto diet for a few years and have tried every crazy fad diet out there. I have a pretty good idea of what I like and what I don’t, but there are so many other factors. Like what time of the day I eat, how much sleep I get, how much exercise I get, what I have for breakfast, etc. I just can’t, and the keto diet is my way out.. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, as long as you are in ketosis.

Why do people like the keto diet so much?

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that forces the body to rely on burning fat for fuel instead of sugar. Its been used as a treatment for epilepsy since the 1920s and has recently become popular among those looking to lose weight or improve their athletic performance.
