Jamaican food is a fusion of Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and African cuisine. It is known for its spicy curries and goat meat.

The real jamaican curry goat recipe is a Jamaican dish that consists of goat meat, seasoned with curry powder and coconut milk.

I’m ecstatic to finally be able to share my Jamaican curry goat dish with you. You won’t be able to get enough of this finger-licking meal, which is marinated in Jamaican spices and gently cooked in a savory curry sauce.

Curry Goat recipe

What is the definition of Jamaican curry goat?

It’s goat meat that’s been seasoned with scallions, garlic, ginger, thyme, onions, scotch bonnet pepper, and curry powder, then cooked gently until the flesh is soft and the sauce is rich and creamy.

Curry goat isn’t a meal that’s served every Sunday in Jamaica. It’s usually served during special occasions like weddings, celebrations, fun fairs, and funerals.

Because goat meat is considerably more costly than chicken or cow meat, it is only consumed on rare occasions.

Cooking goat curry takes some time, but it’s well worth the effort.

Is it goat curry or goat curry?

It’s goat curry, not goat curry. When conversing with a Jamaican, avoid saying the latter.

Jamaicans are proud of their heritage, language, and homeland.

Like a curry dish, we’re full of spice and flavor, and we’ll let you know if you’re misinterpreting our culture swiftly and passionately.

Other Caribbean nations provide goat curry, but we all have our own distinct cultural expressions.

I’m sure they’re just as enthusiastic about goat curry as we Jamaicans are.

Cooking curry goat

Before adding the spice, wash the goat flesh with vinegar and lime/lemon juice. The lime and vinegar will assist to reduce the meat’s odor.

Drain all of the water and, if required, dry with a paper towel.

Curry powder, pimento, thyme, and scallion are all popular Jamaican herbs and spices that mix well with goat meat.

Jamaican curry powder is the finest curry powder to use for this dish.

It adds the appropriate color and flavor to the meal.

For a list of seasonings needed for this curry goat, see the recipe below. Combine the ingredients with the cleaned goat meat and marinate overnight.

To enhance the curry flavor, the goat flesh is traditionally marinated for 24 hours.

If you have a limited amount of time, marinate for at least 2 hours.

Allow the goat to simmer until it is soft.

What is the finest portion of a goat to use for curry?

Slow cooked curry goat is soft and tasty, and the bone marrow is released into the pot to flavor the filling.

You’ll need bone-in beef that can be cooked slowly for a long time.

Because it contains bones and tastes great when slow-cooked, sections of the goat such as the shank, leg, shoulder, and neck are ideal for curry.

What kinds of sides go well with curry goat?

There are so many sides that go well with curry goat that you may serve it with any of your favorites.

On every given occasion in Jamaica, we serve it with rice and peas.

The flavor of this coconut rice complements the flavor of the curry goat perfectly.

Hard cuisine with curry goat is one of my favorites, and the thought of boiling green banana mashed in a hot curry sauce makes my mouth wet.

Roasted breadfruit is another favorite of mine; it’s a must-try!
