Plantain is the most common starch in Jamaican cuisine. It’s known for its versatility and can be fried, baked, boiled or used to make bread. This recipe is easy to make and only takes about 15 minutes of prep time.

Jamaican Crispy Plantain Chips Recipe – Jamaican Foods and Recipes is a blog post that will teach you how to make jamaican fried dumplings. The recipe uses self rising flour, which is a type of flour that has been mixed with baking powder and salt.

Plantain chips are prepared from scratch at home. You’ll never purchase plantain chips in a shop again since they’re so simple and quick to make.

Chips of Plantain

Plantain chips are prepared from green plantains that have been seasoned with salt and other seasonings. Plantain or banana chips are a popular snack in Jamaica, with banana being the most popular.

Plantain chips are simple to create and take just a few minutes to prepare. It’s also better for you than store-bought plantain chips.

Green plantain and salt are all you’ll need. To give the chips a touch of heat, I sometimes add a sprinkle of paprika and cayenne pepper, like I did here. Black pepper may also be used.

A touch of cinnamon is also delicious, although I like it on ripe plantain, but give it a try.

Plantain Chips: A Step-by-Step Guide

Simple and straightforward.

Simple Peel the plantains and thinly slice them, then season and fry! The plantain slices must be extremely thin so that they may be fried quickly.

Although the plantain chips will not absorb a lot of oil, you may bake them instead if the oil is too much for you.

I like to fry the plantain instead of baking it since baked plantains are too dry for my taste.

Serving

Plantains are often consumed as a snack on their own. Because you created your own chips at home, they will be considerably healthier than store-bought plantain chips, allowing you to consume a little more than normal.
